After over 15 years of solid LAMP development with Perl and friends, I have finally started to use Python – both as programmer absorbed with the syntactical nuts and bolts, and as scientist manipulating and visualizing data.

Frankly, it is exciting.

At present, I am reading “Natural Language Processing with Python – Analyzing Text with the Natural Language Toolkit.”  So my data comprises the corpora from the book.

I have written U.S. Congressional Record speaker and statement parsers with Perl, but I want to get involved with CapitolWords – a seriously cool Python API for processing the same texts.

Okay – Back to the study-experiment cycle…
